Just decided to sleep outside in the garden of a nice French couple's house we’re sleeping at. They gave me me Moinette, a bio beer from Brussels i never heard of, and an eatable flower called Capucine. Delicious. I wonder if the sleeping outside plan is a good plan or not. With a fantastic view on the neo-gothic church, which is only a 30 meters from here, i actually shouldn’t be hesitating to do it.
Tonight’s show was pretty awesome. Damian sang pretty much half of the set outside the venue, invited the crowd to come outside too and kept on being Pink Eyes. A short cover set with half of the band on stage (Damian, Sandy and Jonah) kept the crowd warm for the encores and the party started all over again. The ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’ cover might be the trigger of this, as we’re still speaking about a French crowd here (no offense, towards the frenchies nor the Ramones). The support act is even not worth typing these words telling they we’re 1 out of a million other newschool hc bands with a singer whom i wished for he was only able to speak as less english as a normal french dude. That dude didn’t stop flapping his jaw for a second.
Yesterday’s show was a festival called ‘Rock dans tous ses états’, and this was the most convenient name they could ever come up with. We saw/heard French crossover hiphop and rock, dumb chanson rock, the Belgians of Ghinzu (who turn out to be pretty big in the north of France), The Aggrolites, Fucked Up and the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s headlined the whole thing. We decided to leave and sleep in around 9pm as we all didn’t crash for 2 days at all. Fucked Up driving from Glastonbury to Belgium where i picked them up, and me coming from Ursula’s birthday party, trying to sleep a bit at my place but no use because i was still to awake to even close my eyes... But the lunch and dinner at the fest were fucking amazing buffets. Caviar, salmon salads, quiche, roasted lamb, everything. ‘Sometimes you’d wish you weren’t a vegetarian, don’t you Bram’ was pretty much what i felt according to Damian; stuffing himself with all this culinary gold.
